The new VW Beetle GSR launches in the Europe and UK and will costs from £24,900. Just 3,500 examples of the Beetle will be offered worldwide, but just 100 Beetle GSR available in the UK.
The GSR nameplate, which stands for ‘Gelb-Schwarze Renner’ in German – or Yellow Black Racer in German – honoring the original GSR that was launched 40 years ago.
A mixture of yellow and black shades can be found both inside and out of the car, but gets a set of 19-inch ‘Tornado’ alloy wheels with 235/40 tyres, R-Line bumpers, R-Line racing seats with contrast stitching and a leather steering wheel.
Driving its front wheels is a 2-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine with 207bhp and 207lb ft of torque, which allows the car to complete the benchmark 0-62mph sprint in 7.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 142mph.
The VW Beetle GSR starts at £24,900 for a manual gearbox-equipped car, while Volkswagen asking for a £1,500 premium for the dual-clutch DSG transmission.
Volkswagen say the first customer Beetle GSR will arrive in the UK in September.
